The Ministry of Water Resources and The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed US$8 million grant agreement for Emergency Water Supply activities.

H.E Ato Asfaw Dingamo, Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources and Dr. Yuji Maruo, Team Leader, Japan International Cooperation Agency signed the grant agreement on July 23, 2009.

Speaking on the occasion Ato Asfaw said that over the past several years water has been priority sectors enjoying the support of Japanese. He added that the support being provided by the Japanese Government has a significant role in strengthening the on going emergency water supply activity programs.

Dr. Yuji Maruo, on his part said that global climate change is one of the problems that affect Ethiopia and the donation will support the regions emergency water supply activities for Addressing Climate Change.
